are we expected or encouraged to return the tray back to the collection point?

anyway last fri
having lunch as usual in the hawker
and then the cleaner auntie came to our table "later u all put back the tray huh"
and we all stunned
and we saw tt she went to every table to make the same announcement
DUH

WTF!!
WTH!
what is this??

anyway we told her OK
then we all started our mini topic
so what huh? put or dun put?
then J asked "she still got to go clear if ppl dun clear rite? and she will need to clean the table too, coz table maybe dirty mah"
and we all went yayayaya

but hor, we observed and VIOLA
she did not clear any plates on the any tables
she stood behind the collection point
then a grp of students came and there was an empty table but plates not cleared
the students asked the auntie to clean the table, auntie told them to bring the plates to her instead
students did not bother , just stack the plates and then went to buy their own food

then someone walked away and auntie told him "hey bring ur plate back"
hahaha
we all stunned to the max

its either cleaner auntie misinterpreted "encouraged with expected" or the cleaning boss or sup did not give them CLEAR instruction

so did we clear our plates
the answer is  YES/NO
half of us left without clearing and the other did
those who did not was becoz the cleaner auntie was rude and its her job to clean the dishes and clean the table
if we return the tray back to the collection pt, its becoz we want to!!
